ERC is seeking ideas that could form the basis of future bids to the Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF). The opportunity for NERC to bid for an SPF programme is only likely to arise following a spending review but ideas are being sought now to allow for early identification and development of potential programme proposals.

July 2020 deadlines
Lloyd’s Register Foundation is seeking to commission, via a grant, research into the role of data and evidence in food safety.
The findings of this research will be published by the Foundation to contribute to the body of knowledge on food safety and will also inform the implementation of the Foundation’s strategy in this area.

Awards up to £2 million (100% fEC) are available for academics based at UK Research Organisations to conduct research into social, behavioural and design aspects of healthy ageing. Proposals are expected to critically engage with businesses, including social enterprises, to enhance their understanding of the needs and opportunities of an ageing population, help inform innovators and to open up creative spaces for businesses and consumers in an ‘ageing market.’ The public sector and charities should also be engaged where appropriate.

August 2020 deadlines
Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, is investing up to £2 million to fund collaborative research and development (CR&D) projects focused on industrial research.
We will fund digital health and smart device projects that promote healthy ageing. They must meet one or more of these themes: robotics, augmented or artificial intelligence, software as a medical device, wearables, medical devices, diagnostics, imaging, data analytics, sensors, apps.
Projects must include at least one partner from one of the participating countries of the EUREKA Network. These countries are: France, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Canada, Malta, Turkey, Austria.

September 2020 deadlines
This call will support multidisciplinary research collaborations that spread citizen science methods into new fields of research and involve citizens to address societally-relevant challenges.
This is a single round funding scheme for projects lasting one to three years. Lead applicants can be from any discipline and must be of lecturer level or equivalent.
UKRI are particularly interested in collaborations that enable researchers with no prior experience of using citizen science methods to develop their expertise, and projects that extend citizen science methods into new research disciplines.
Projects must start by 31 March 2021 and must be completed by 31 March 2024.
