Exploring the potential of local food hubs in deprived areas

The majority of organisations combating Food Poverty on the ground are small-scale social enterprises. These operate on shoestring budgets and have limited capability for innovation, evaluation and development. The project will align with developing networks of Local Food Hubs that aim to facilitate access to healthy affordable food in deprived urban spaces. This is a unique opportunity to foster relationships with, capacity-build and support such initiatives, while developing impactful research and knowledge exchange.Bringing together interdisciplinary academic expertise, the team aims to investigate the resilience of Food Hubs across the UK, while exploring routes to larger funding opportunities that will support further pioneering Food Hub/N8 partnerships.
