Dr Rachel Marshall

Senior Research Associate Lancaster University

Rachel’s research interests are in carbon and nutrient cycling in ecosystems with a focus on the effects of land management and agricultural practice on soil health and function, and how this underpins ecosystem services. In previous projects she has examined the effects of land use change on greenhouse gas emissions and carbon storage, and the impacts of using alternative fertiliser materials (food waste digestate and ash materials) on crop productivity and soil health indicators. Rachel is passionate about co-producing research with stakeholders and ensuring research is used to support and inform policy making.
