Urban Agriculture Cluster Innovation Visit: Stockbridge Technology Centre Thursday 6th February 2020
In February we invite you to join us on the first of a series of “Innovation Visits” to facilities and businesses who are innovating the Urban
Agriculture space.
The purpose of the trips is to open the door for academics/researchers and industry to meet and share knowledge, develop new relationships and work together to help address the challenges facing us in these difficult and changeable times.
Our first Innovation Visit will be to Stockbridge Technology Centre (STC) on the 6th of February. We will spend a day learning about what facilities are available at the site, what research is currently occurring, how industry and academia can work together in innovating new solutions and what support could be leveraged from government to carry out this work.
STC was launched in April 2001 to ensure continued technological developments for the horticultural industry. This grower-led initiative has created an independent horticultural centre of excellence supported by both the production and supply sectors of theindustry. There are two tiers to STC, STC Research Foundation and STC Ltd. The STC Research Foundation is a company limited by guarantee and also a registered educational charity. The directors are leaders from industry drawn from both grower and academic aspects. STC Research is an eligible body for research and educational business activities, enabling simpler collaborative interchanges with the Government and its bodies as well as Universities. Stockbridge Technology Centre Ltd (STC) is a company limited by shares. This company carries out all commercial work and is responsible for administration and operation of the Stockbridge House site.
This is a closed event as places are limited. Lunch and transport from York are provided on the day. Please contact caroline.wilcock@n8agrifood.ac.uk to register your interested in attending or for further information.
