Discussions around food system resilience and sustainability on both national and global levels continued into Day 2 of the N8 AgriFood 2019 Conference.

The second day of the event, which attracted an audience of almost 250 delegates to York, was opened by Keynote speaker Phil Hambling, Head of Food and Farming at the NFU (pictured below with keynote Cathryn Higgs).

N8 AgriFood’s 2019 Conference got underway today as almost 250 delegates descended upon The Principal Hotel in York for the two day event.

Attracting an international audience from academia, industry, government and beyond, the event celebrates the achievements of the N8 AgriFood programme and is shaping debate on how we can collectively contribute further to solutions for food systems resilience and sustainability.

There is a moral duty to take control of the agenda at a crucial time for the UK’s food and agricultural policy according to the NFU’s Head of Food and Farming  who is among the keynote speakers at this year’ s N8 AgriFood International Conference 2019.

A leading global food policy expert will tell N8 AgriFood’s conference next week that policy makers need to adopt an integrated approach to food systems to feed and nourish a rising population while protecting the environment and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In his speech to the fifth annual N8 AgriFood Conference, Jonathan Brooks, Head of Agri-Food Trade and Markets Division, at the Organisation for  Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will describe the formidable “triple challenge” facing the world and that only through collaboration will it be met.
