N8 AgriFood hosts collaborative Soil workshop for farming and scientific leaders

N8 AgriFood has partnered with research and consultancy company ADAS to co-host a workshop for the farming sector and academic scientists to discuss the challenge of increasing crop productivity whilst maintaining soil health.

Farmers, agronomists, farming industries and academics attended the event at the National Agri-Food Innovation Campus 31st March 2017.

N8 AgriFood researchers are helping to change the way academics work with the food industry

Knowledge Exchange Fellows (KEFs) link N8 AgriFood with external organisations such as industry, government bodies and NGOs, to develop collaborative research solutions to current agrifood challenges.

N8 AgriFood currently has 15 KEFs working across the priority areas of sustainable food production, resilient supply chains and healthy nutrition to develop and enable the application of research for external organisations to deliver economic, social and cultural impact at a national and global level.

N8 AgriFood expert to chair panel at major obesity conference

Professor Jason Halford, N8 AgriFood’s theme leader of improved consumption & health, will lead a discussion panel at the 24th European Congress on Obesity (ECO2017) in Portugal.

 

The conference, which takes place from 17th-20th May in Porto, will focus on the latest research, clinical approaches and perspectives on obesity. View conference website here

Prof Halford will jointly host the session ‘Obesity and the Food Industry- Collaboration or Conflict?’ alongside Professor Flora Correia of the University of Porto.
